May Journal Entry: Finding Connection, Calm, and Clarity

As we step into June, I find myself reflecting on the transition from a busy May. Throughout this time, I’ve made sure to prioritise space for myself.

The world can be a really stressful place, so I’ve started making it a point to intentionally soak up the sunshine, block out the idiots, and dance barefoot in the grass whenever I can. It is such a powerful way to give yourself space and grace. I encourage you to do the same—make room for the things that make you feel like the magical, amazing person you are. You deserve that peace.

Much of this month was spent finding grounding in the Shropshire Hills. There is something about that landscape—the stillness, the fresh air, and the quiet lanes—that acts as a mirror, reminding me of who I am and what I stand for. It’s in these moments of calm that my imagination truly takes flight.

One of the highlights was spending time with my lovely friend and Reiki healer... Donna. Also, one of my biggest fans of Secrets of Silverleaf Cottage. We shared a Reiki session and my very first cacao ceremony—a truly beautiful, heart-opening experience.

Beyond the practice of individual self-care, there is an immeasurable importance in making dedicated time for true friends. In the rush of busy lives, professional commitments, and personal projects, it is easy for these essential connections to fade into the background. Yet, nurturing these bonds is vital for the soul, providing a necessary anchor when the world feels overwhelming. Choosing to prioritise time with the people who truly know and support you is a powerful act of love that restores balance and reminds us that we do not have to walk through life's challenges alone.

I’ve also been thinking about my approach to life. The trouble with me is that my attitude is always "I can." I had a wonderful teacher who always told us there is no such word as "can't." Those words have carried me through life, and I believe she was right; I wrote my book because I "can." However, I am learning not to let "can" get mixed up with never saying "no." I have had to remind myself not to spread myself too thinly because burnout is real. As the saying goes, you can’t see the wood for the trees when you absorb yourself too much; it is only when you step back that you realise just how much life can take it out of you.

Updates from the Writing Desk:

  • I am absolutely thrilled to share that I have secured a book launch at Much More Books in Much Wenlock!

  • Work on the second book in my series, Secrets of the Wenbridge Wedding, is coming along beautifully.

  • I am so incredibly grateful for the growing community here; thank you for following along on this heartwarming and suspenseful journey.

Taking this time to breathe, connect, and realign has been a gift. I feel refreshed, inspired, and ready for all the stories that June has in store. Thank you for being a part of this.

With love,
